William Julio, MD, DFAPA

Psychiatrist

Subspecialty in Geriatric Psychiatry. Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology

Dr. William Julio earned his medical degree from the University of Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

He completed a rotating internship and a residency in General Psychiatry at Cabrini Medical Center / Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, New York, where he served as Chief Resident. He later completed a subspecialty in Geriatric Psychiatry at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center / New York Medical College. He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians and of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, board-certified in Psychiatry with additional qualifications in Geriatric Psychiatry. He was also elected by the Board of Trustees of the American Psychiatric Association as a Distinguished Fellow. Dr. Julio is a member and has served as president of several professional associations, including the Puerto Rico Academy of Psychiatry and the Puerto Rico Psychiatric Society, APA District Branch. He has also been active in the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry. Dr. Julio has participated as a speaker in numerous scientific congresses and symposia and has served as Principal Investigator in dozens of clinical research trials in the areas of Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, and Neurocognitive Disorders due to Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease.

Sylma Batista, MD

Psychiatrist

Subspecialty in Psychiatry

Dr. Sylma Batista earned her medical degree from the University of Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

She completed her Psychiatry internship at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson. She then completed her residency in General Psychiatry and subspecialty training in Latino Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center / New York Medical College. She also participated in the Comprehensive HIV Center – Mental Health Program at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center / New York Medical College. Dr. Batista has over twenty years of clinical practice and is a member and Clinical Coordinator of the Bayamón Region Psychiatric Association.

Caroline Toro-Ruiz, MD

Psychiatrist

Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology

Dr. Caroline Toro-Ruiz earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, majoring in Industrial Microbiology. She obtained her medical degree from San Juan Bautista School of Medicine in Caguas, Puerto Rico.

She completed her internship at the San Juan Veterans Affairs Hospital and her Psychiatry residency at the Veterans Affairs Hospital / Ponce Health Sciences University, where she served as Chief Resident during her final year. She is board-certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She currently serves on the medical faculty of Hospital Pavía–Hato Rey and Hospital Panamericano. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the Medical Sciences Campus.

Dra. Carmen Brito, MD

Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology

Dr. Carmen Brito Medina earned her medical degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in San Diego, California. She completed her internship and Psychiatry residency at the Medical Sciences Campus of the Río Piedras Medical Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

She currently serves on the medical faculties of Hospital de Comportamiento Pavía in Hato Rey and Hospital Menonita CIMA in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, and is an Adjunct Professor at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine in Caguas. She is the Medical Director of Hospital de Comportamiento Pavía in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico.
